Melco Resorts & Entertainment subsidiary Melco Resorts (Macau) Limited announced today that Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel will officially cease operations at 11:59 PM next Monday 24 November 2025.
The company revealed in June that it planned to close three of its slots-only Mocha clubs – Mocha Hotel Royal, Mocha Kuong Fat and Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel – by the end of this year, with Mocha Grand Dragon becoming the second to cease operations after Mocha Kuong Fat closed earlier in September.
Melco has already shuttered its Grand Dragon satellite casino.
Alongside Melco’s latest announcement about Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel, Macau’s gaming regulator the DICJ stated it would strictly supervise the shutdown procedures of to ensure all statutory processes are properly executed and would dispatch personnel to conduct on-site monitoring of the entire shutdown process.
The DICJ also noted that all 44 employees at the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel are employees of Melco and that it would maintain close liaison with the Labour Affairs Bureau to ensure Melco strictly fulfills its commitment to properly accommodate these employees according to the previously submitted plan, effectively safeguarding their remuneration, benefits and working conditions.
In a statement, Melco said, “All electronic gaming machines at the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel will be reallocated to Melco’s other casinos in the Macao SAR, as approved by the DICJ.
“All customers’ rights are safeguarded after the cessation of the operation. Customers of the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel will be able to continue to use their gaming slips (TITO) at the Altira Casino, Mocha Inner Harbor, Mocha Golden Dragon and Mocha Sintra Hotel.
Alongside the closure of some of Melco’s Mocha club venues, many of the 11 satellite casinos that were operating in Macau earlier in the year have also shut down including Grand Dragon, Galaxy’s Waldo and SJM’s Casino Casa Real, Grandview, Legend Palace and Emperor.
SJM previously announced that it was looking to acquire Ponte 16 casino and L’Arc Macau as wholly-owned casinos within the group. An announcement around one of those is expected this week.
