The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will host a large-scale roadshow in Bangkok this Friday, with all six concessionaires in attendance as they look to further promote Macau’s tourism appeal.
According to information from the tourism body, the roadshow represents its first large-scale roadshow in Southeast Asia this year and will be held for three consecutive days at Siam Paragon Shopping Centre, a commercial landmark in Bangkok, Thailand.
The roadshow, with the theme of “Macau Wonder”, will showcase Macau’s “Tourism +” cross-boundary integration of tourism experiences, aiming to encourage Thai residents to choose Macau as a travel destination.
Ironically, it also gets underway just a day after IAG hosts the Thailand Entertainment Complex Roundtable in Bangkok, an event that will feature high-level discussion over Thailand’s own efforts to legalize casino gaming within large-scale entertainment complexes.
The six concessionaires will participate in the Bangkok roadshow by setting up booths and launching Macau’s tourism products and consumer offers in collaboration with Thai online and offline travel agencies, airlines and other travel trade.
According to Macau’s visitor arrival data, between January and April this year Thailand ranked eighth among Macau’s top source markets and fifth among international source markets, making it a promising market in Southeast Asia.
At present, there are three airlines – Air Macau, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air – providing direct flights between Macau and Thailand, with a total of 54 weekly flights between Bangkok and Macau.
The MGTO has organized roadshows in Bangkok for the past two years and is visiting Bangkok for the third time this year. It has also organized promotions in the Middle East, Japan and Korea this year, with Thailand to be followed by Indonesia and Malaysia.
