David Jorden, former Chief Marketing Officer at Manila’s Newport World Resorts, has been unveiled as Executive Vice President of Gaming at Hoiana Resort & Golf in Vietnam.
According to information posted on social media, Jorden began in his new role this week after almost three years at NWR. He previously spent six years in various roles at Resorts World Sentosa, including as VP Casino Marketing and Business Development, as well as a short stint at Marina Bay Sands and almost a decade with Australia’s Star Entertainment Group.
His arrival at Hoiana continues a substantial overhaul of the property’s management team following an ownership transition announced in January that saw Hong Kong-based investment firm VMS Group, which is linked to Hong Kong jewelry giant Chow Tai Fook, assume a controlling 75% stake in Hoiana operator Hoi An South Development Ltd. Hoiana had previously been an equally split three-way joint venture between VMS, Hong Kong-listed Suncity Group and Vietnamese investment management and real estate firm VinaCapital.
The ownership transition saw long-time Hoiana President and CEO Steve Wolstenholme step down after seven years in the role, replaced as President of HASD by Benny Chong, the Chairman and CEO of the VMS Group. Alan Teo, previously COO of NUSTAR parent Universal Hotels and Resorts, was named Hoiana’s CEO at the same time.
Hoi An South Development Ltd (HASD) has since flagged a US$1 billion investment into Phase 2 of the property, starting this year.
Hoiana currently boasts 1,200 high-end hotel rooms, a world-class one golf course, convention facilities, restaurants and other entertainment options.
