Japan’s Sega Sammy Holdings has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Netherlands-based iGaming content creator Stakelogic B.V. in a deal aimed at strengthening its push into the US online gaming market.
The agreement, which is expected to close before the end of the financial year on 31 March 2025, follows Sega Sammy’s acquisition late last year of online GAN Limited, which is a B2B platform provider in the US and B2C online gaming operator in Europe and South America.
Growing its gaming business was a key focus of Sega Sammy’s medium-term plan, announced in May 2024.
According to details provided in a Friday announcement, Stakelogic’s strength lies in the development of iGaming content, “a market we are targeting,” Sega Sammy said, adding “we believe this acquisition will further enhance the competitiveness of GAN’s B2B platform and contribute to the expansion of our gaming business.”
It noted that Stakelogic holds Game Certifications across 17 territories, developing slot games, live table games and hybrid games which allow players to play roulette, blackjack, baccarat and live game shows online.
“Stakelogic has built an organization which develops this content completely in-house, in a short time frame and under the highest quality standards,” Sega Sammy said. “We recognize that Stakelogic is a company that is capable of continuously reinventing itself; rapidly developing and releasing new and innovative content.”
Koichi Fukazawa, Senior Executive Vice President and Group CFO of Sega Sammy, said, “Sega Sammy Group aims to establish a presence as a creative B2B solution provider based on innovative technology, especially in the North American online gaming market. I am very pleased to announce our alliance with Stakelogic, an innovative and leading content provider in the Dutch gaming market, as a crucial part of executing this strategy.
“We are confident that Stakelogic’s ability to rapidly develop and provide unique, high-quality gaming content will make a significant contribution to the implementation of our strategy and create excellent synergies through combining with the strengths of our group.”
Sega Sammy’s traditional gaming expertise includes the development of pachislot and pachinko machines and titles, while it also holds a 45% stake in South Korean integrated resort Paradise City in Incheon – a joint venture with local Korean operator Paradise Group.
