Sega Sammy chairman Hajime Satomi named in Japan’s Top 50 rich list

Hajime Satomi, the chairman of leading Japanese pachinko supplier and integrated resort investor Sega Sammy Holdings, has been named among Japan’s 50 richest people in 2025 by business media group Forbes.

Satomi is ranked at No.41 on this year’s list with an estimated fortune of US$1.4 billion – making him one of three individuals linked with the nation’s pachinko industry to rank among the elite.

Hideyuki Busujima, the chairman of pachinko machine manufacturer Sankyo, ranks No.11 with a fortune of US$4.6 billion while Maruhan’s Han Chang-woo is listed at No.47 with a fortune of US$1.24 billion.

Sega Sammy’s Satomi handed over the day-today operations of the company to his son, Haruki Satomi, in 2021.

The company has long been one of Japan’s leading pachinko machine suppliers and also holds a 45% stake in Korean casino resort Paradise City in partnership with local operator Paradise Co. Sega Sammy is also a giant in the video gaming world on the back of its Sega arm.
