South Korea’s leading foreigner-only casino operator, Paradise Co, reported casino revenue of KRW74.5 billion (US$56.1 million) in January, up 17.7% over December and 54.9% higher year-on-year.
However, Paradise appeared to play lucky given that table drop actually declined by 2.2% sequentially to KRW568.9 billion (US$429 million). Table drop was 19.4% higher than the same period last year.
The January revenue figure included table games revenue of KRW69.6 billion (US$52.5 million) – up 18.3% month-on-month and 56.2% year-on-year – and machine revenue of KRW4.88 billion (US$3.7 million), up 9.5% on December and 38.2% higher than January 2023.
Paradise Co previously reported a 113% increase in casino revenues to KRW744.2 billion (US$567 million) in 2023.
The company operates four casinos in Korea, including integrated resort Paradise City in Incheon – a joint venture with Japan’s Sega Sammy – plus casinos in Seoul, Busan and Jeju.
