Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced the lifting of all quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated arrivals as of Monday 15 November.
According to local media reports, the news was delivered on Sunday with near immediate effect, allowing international arrivals to enter freely provided they are fully vaccinated and provide a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival. Unvaccinated travellers will still be required to undergo 14 days of hotel quarantine.
“Cambodia is almost fully vaccinated at nearly 88% of the total population of around 16 million,” the Prime Minister said. “So there is no quarantine requirement any longer except for those who have not been vaccinated, who still need to do a 14-day quarantine like before.
“Foreign and Cambodian arrivals can wait for the test results at the entry points for only 15 or 20 minutes before departure to their destination.”
The Prime Minister also issued an order for any vaccinated international guests currently in hotel quarantine to be allowed to leave on Monday once they have provided a negative test result.
The decision to drop quarantine requirements for international arrivals appears to make a previous plan to trial quarantine-free tourism in Sihanoukville redundant. That trial had been due to begin from 30 November, followed by Siem Reap from January 2022.
Cambodia dropped all COVID-19 restrictions for businesses nationwide on 1 November.
