Tak Chun Group has been one of the major winners from the streamlining of Macau’s junket industry in recent years, establishing itself as a clear number two in the space and growing bigger by the year.
Its aggressive expansion policy has seen the number of VIP Clubs under its watch reach 22, including 17 in Macau and five overseas, the most recent of those being at City of Dreams in Macau and Cambodia’s NagaWorld, both launched in February.
They follow multiple new room openings in 2018, including at MGM Cotai and the Roosevelt in Macau, Okada Manila in the Philippines and Crowne Plaza in Danang, Vietnam.
Speaking at the City of Dreams launch earlier this year, Tak Chun Chairman and CEO Levo Chan made it clear that the company’s future expansion would be largely focused on Southeast Asia – a clear indication of the opportunities that are expected to arise there in the coming years.
In the meantime, don’t expect the latest slowdown in Macau’s VIP business to worry Tak Chun too much. Having survived the big plunge of 2013, this latest slump has been water off a duck’s back, relatively speaking, with analysts tipping a VIP recovery as the clock ticks into 2020.
