The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) has appointed Resorts World Sentosa Chairman and CEO Tan Hee Teck as its new President following a by-election held late last week, The Straits Times reports.
According to the media outlet, Tan will now lead the federation’s efforts to “advance tripartism and enhance labour market flexibility to nurture sustainable businesses in Singapore” by shoring up the three-way partnership between the government, employers and the labor movement.
The SNEF had previously planned to wait until its Annual General Meeting in September to vote on a new president following the resignation of Robert Yap in June, but reassessed its position after agreeing it was in the organization’s best interest to have clear leadership, The Straits Times said.
Tan has served as the SNEF’s Vice President since September 2022 and has been part of its council for the last 15 years.
The SNEF describes its mission as being to advance tripartism and enhance labor market flexibility to enable employers to implement responsible employment practices. It claims its mission values are to be “forward-looking, innovative, professional, collaborative and conduct ourselves with integrity when we work with our colleagues, members, tripartite partners and stakeholders to achieve our vision.”
