Inside Asian Gaming’s website, asgam.com, is now ranked inside the world’s top 50,000 websites according to the world’s leading website ranking system, the Alexa Traffic Rank.

The asgam.com website reached an all-time high ranking of 49,805 on Monday 19 April, making it by far the most widely read gaming media website anywhere in the world as well as the 14th most read website of any type in Macau.

It also puts it ahead of some well-known news websites globally, such as those of Australian newspapers The Canberra Times and Adelaide Advertiser.

Alexa (a subsidiary of Amazon.com) ranks the most popular approximately 30 million of the world’s websites in order of popularity, calculated using the estimated average daily unique visitors and number of page views over the past 90 days. This results in a “visitor engagement” ranking for any given website.

The Alexa ranking is calculated daily and issued around 7pm Macau time each day. The lower the ranking number the better, with google.com being ranked at #1.

Any sites outside the top million websites are considered by many internet marketers to be essentially worthless, and being in the top 100,000 sites in the world is considered by many to be a major achievement.

Launched in 2005, asgam.com has risen steadily over the past few years to become the #1 gaming media website in the world. IAG closely monitors a wide range of other Macau media websites and other gaming media websites around the world. These two groups comprise around 30 websites, which range in Alexa ranking from as high as 82,000 to as low as 10 million.

IAG’s Japanese language website, www.asgam.jp, is currently ranked 85,155 – another remarkable achievement for a site that is only in Japanese and placing it the number 2 gaming media website in the world behind its sister site, asgam.com.

“To see asgam.com rank inside the top 50,000 websites in the world is a tremendous achievement by the team here at Inside Asian Gaming,” said IAG Vice Chairman and CEO Andrew W Scott.

“Once again this indicates that IAG has well and truly established itself as the clear number 1 gaming industry media website in the world.

“We have no intention of resting on our laurels and will continue to push harder to ensure asgam.com is even more widely read around the world and particularly in Asia.

“We have felt a very strong responsibility to support the industry through COVID-19 and provide up to date, timely and topical information to our readers. I congratulate the team on the many extra hours of work they have put in to make sure that has happened. Our newsroom is running almost 24 hours a day now.”

IAG also leads both the global gaming media pack and the Macau media pack in another key Alexa metric, average time on site, reaching an all-time high of 26:46 on 17 April 2021.

As the name suggests, average time on site represents the average time spent per user per day on the website. Average time on site per day for google.com (ranked #1) is around 16 minutes. For Facebook.com (usually ranked around #7) it is around 18 minutes. These are both considered exceptionally long. The average time on site for CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post are all around three to four minutes.
