The International Betting Integrity Association has revealed a total of 37 suspicious betting alerts in the three months to 31 March 2019, including seven in Asia.
The 37 reports represent a significant decline on the 83 alerts in the fourth quarter of 2018 and a 26% reduction over the same period last year when there were 50 alerts.
The reduction was mainly due to a decrease in tennis alerts to 17 in the quarter, down 37% year-on-year and 69% sequentially. It is also the lowest individual quarter for tennis alerts since 1Q17.
However, tennis still remains the biggest contributor to suspicious betting alerts with 10 more than the next most reported sport, football.
Asia’s seven alerts for the quarter included five relating to tennis, one to volleyball and one to ice hockey.
