A 44-year-old dealer at Melco Resorts’ temporary Cyprus casino has been jailed for four days on suspicion of rigging a roulette table to help a player win US$6,500.

According to a report by Cyprus News Agency, the man – who now faces fraud charges – was observed acting suspiciously on the property’s security cameras and later found to have been helping a 53-year-old man win on 18 separate occasions over the course of one month.

Associated Press subsequently quoted Melco’s Cyprus Casinos C2 as stating it “won’t tolerate such behaviour.”

Melco launched its temporary casino, Cyprus Casinos Limassol, last June and has since launched two of its four planned satellite casinos across the country. The company’s €550 million City of Dreams Mediterranean, which will replace the temporary facility, will be complete in 2021 and offer 136 gaming tables, 1,200 electronic gaming machines as well as a 500-room hotel, 11 restaurants, 1,200 square meters of retail and almost 10,000 square meters of meeting and exhibition space.
