The Macau Daily Times reports that Dr Stanley Ho, chairman of SJM (Sociedade de Jogos de Macau), Macau’s biggest casino operator by gaming revenue share, is to go home soon after nearly seven months in hospital.
The news was given by Angela Leong–Dr Ho’s fourth consort–to local media yesterday.
Ms Leong–mother to Dr Ho’s five youngest children and a member of Macau’s Legislative Assembly–said Dr Ho was under medical observation pending discharge from a Hong Kong private hospital. She made her comments on the sidelines at a lunch for local media given by the local legislature.
Her statement appears to contradict news reported by the Chinese-language Hong Kong-based newspaper Apple Daily. It said on 1st February that the 88-year-old casino tycoon’s health was deteriorating.
Dr Stanley Ho has been in hospital since August last year and has reportedly undergone two operations. He was admitted after what was described as “a fall” at home. Dr Ho made his first public appearance in more than four months in December at the inauguration of Macau’s new chief executive Fernando Chui Sai On.
At that ceremony he was seated in a wheelchair, leading to speculation that his health was still fragile.
