South Korean foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) saw its casino revenue plummet in July, down 48.1% month-on-month and 38.2% year-on-year to KRW19.2 billion (US$14.0 million).
The company did not outline the reason for the significant decline, with drop amount figures showing a 2.6% month-on-month increase to KRW303.9 billion (US$222.1 million).
GKL’s July result included a 51.6% sequential decline in table game revenue to KRW16.6 billion (US$12.1 million), while machine revenue was down by 4.3% to KRW2.66 billion (US$1.94 million).
For the first seven months of 2024 combined, GKL’s casino revenue is down 11.4% year-on-year to KRW211.8 billion (US$154.8 million) while table drop is up 23.4% to KRW2.16 trillion (US$1.58 billion).
GKL operates three casinos in South Korea and Seoul and Busan under the Seven Luck brand.
