Chen Si, former CEO of Korea’s INSPIRE Entertainment Resort, has officially begun as the new Chief operating Officer of Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa.
The company formally recognized Chen’s appointment in a social media post on Monday, noting that the former Macau gaming executive will “oversee day-to-day operational performance, organizational excellence, and the continued enhancement of guest experience across the resort”.
His appointment, RWS added, reflects the property’s continued focus on leadership renewal and sustained operational performance as the resort advances its transformation under RWS 2.0. Parent company Genting Singapore had previously announced Chen as new COO of RWS in October.
Chen had over the weekend posted a farewell to INSPIRE, describing it as “the biggest professional challenge of my life” given the financing and licensing hurdles that challenged is completion.
His appointment comes at a critical time for RWS, which last year farewelled its veteran Chief Casino Officer Andrew MacDonald and more recently lost long-time CEO Tan Hee Teck to retirement.
RWS is currently in the midst of a US$5 billion revamp that once complete by around 2030 will include a substantial new waterfront expansion. It recently opened its new Singapore Oceanarium in July and the all-suite The Laurus, A Luxury Collection Resort.
