Andrew MacDonald has stepped down as a director and Chief Casino Officer of Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa Pte Ltd (RWS), the company has announced.
In a filing issued late Saturday, RWS said McDonald has stepped down to pursue personal interests, with his date of departure listed as last Friday 1 November 2024.
The 65-year-old joined RWS in February 2022, responsible for overseeing the resort’s overall casino business, and was named a director in February of this year. He was previously Chief Casino Officer and Senior Vice President at cross-town rival Marina Bay Sands for more than 10 years.
A veteran of four decades in the industry, MacDonald’s career began as a dealer at Australia’s Wrest Point Casino in Hobart, Tasmania, before he became a regulator in Queensland.
He logged stints at Genting, Crown and Jupiters Gold Coast – now The Star Gold Coast – before leaving gaming for investment banking as Managing Director and Co-Global head of Macquarie Capital.
LVS tapped MacDonald to join MBS in January 2010 where he eventually moved into a corporate role in 2012, rising to the role of Chief Casino Officer for the company globally. His duties included casino performance analysis and strategic recommendations for every Las Vegas Sands and Sands China Limited property.
Having spent the past two-and-a-half years with RWS – the other half of the Singapore IR duopoly, MacDonald was famously banned from setting foot in Marina Bay Sands earlier this year due to concerns he may have been attempting to poach MBS customers and staff during a series of visits to the property in late July. MacDonald denied those allegations at the time, claiming that all visits to the property during the period in question were purely social in nature.
