Genting Singapore subsidiary Resorts World Sentosa Pte Ltd (RWS) has announced the appointment of former Macau casino executive and current CEO of Korea’s INSPIRE Entertainment Resort, Chen Si, as its new Chief Operating Officer.
The news was confirmed by RWS on Monday just hours after INSPIRE had revealed that Chen would depart the company by the end of November, replaced by local Korean executive Gyubum Ko.
According to a media statement, Chen will as COO assist RWS’s Chief Executive Officer Lee Shi Ruh in the “execution of the strategies, management and development of RWS’ core businesses. He will oversee day-to-day operational performance, organisational excellence and the continued enhancement of guest experience across the resort,” the company said.
The appointment, it added, “reflects RWS’s continued focus on leadership renewal and sustained operational performance as the resort advances its transformation under RWS 2.0.”
Chen will join RWS on 1 December after completing a handover to Ko at INSPIRE.
His appointment comes at a critical time for the Singapore integrated resort operator, which last year farewelled its veteran Chief Casino Officer Andrew MacDonald and more recently lost long-time CEO Tan Hee Teck to retirement.
RWS is currently in the midst of a US$5 billion revamp that one complete by around 2030 will include a substantial new waterfront expansion. It also opened its new Singapore Oceanarium in July and the all-suite The Laurus, A Luxury Collection Resort earlier this month.
