The number of MICE events in Macau increased by 31.4% year-on-year to 1,524 in 2024, although the number of participants and attendees fell by 17.1% to around 1,332,000 according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The figures included 1,423 meeting and conference in 2024, up 32.2% year-on-year, with the number of conferences rising by 61.1%, and the number of attendees increasing by 8.2% to 185,000 persons.
Exhibitions attracted 7,093 exhibitors and 52,651 professional visitors, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5% and 12.1% respectively, with 51.9% of exhibitors and 51.5% of professional visitors coming from overseas.
The number of incentives doubled year-on-year to 40 with the number of participants increasing by 22.5% to 13,000.
MICE events drove Macau’s non-gaming revenue to approximately MOP$5.48 billion (US$684 million), a decrease of 8.2% from 2023.
On a quarterly basis, there were 465 MICE events in 4Q24, an increase of 22% year-on-year, while participants/attendees decreased by 15.4% year-on-year, mainly due to the decrease in exhibition attendance.
MICE events generated approximately MOP$1.44 billion (US$180 million) in non-gaming revenue in Q4, a decrease of 32.1% compared to the same quarter in 2023.
