Japanese conglomerate Konami pointed to the stabilization of the Asian market for a 2.8% increase in its Gaming & Systems segment revenue to JPY30.4 billion (US$196 million) in the nine months through 31 December 2024, while the Australian market remained “robust”.
Segment revenue for the December quarter reached JPY11.8 billion (US$76.5 million) up 12.7% compared with the same period in 2023.
In releasing its financial results for the nine-month period, which also saw segment profit reach JPY4.72 billion (US$30.5 million), Konami noted that “demand has normalized in the nine months ended 31 December 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 when there was an increase in sales due to the recovery of the Asian market from COVID-19.”
Both the North American and Australian gaming markets remained strong, with each “continuing to experience the constant introduction of new products by competing slot machine manufacturers, providing for new placement opportunities.”
All four of Konami’s key segments experienced growth through December, led by the main Digital Entertainment or video gaming segment where revenue climbed by 32.0% to JPY173.4 billion (US$1.12 billion).
Total group revenue for the period grew by 22.8% year-on-year to JPY253.1 billion (US$1.64 billion) with profit attributable to owners of the parent up 41.8% to JPY63.1 billion (US$408 million).
Looking ahead, Konami said it will look to enhance its brand value in the Gaming & Systems segment by developing new game titles and system features.
“In the slot machine business, we will continue to expand the highly acclaimed DIMENSION series in the market,” it said. “In our gaming contents, we will continue to expand highly admired game series such as the Charms Full Link, the Unwooly Riches, and the Bingo Frenzy Stampede.
In our casino management system, SYNKROS will be introduced to several casino facilities.
Moreover, we will expand the feature of SYNK Vision, the world’s only player facial recognition solution for Electronic Game Machines, to table games to enhance convenience of the system. This expansion enables seamless management throughout casino floor.
“By proceeding with the development of various functions that utilize cutting edge technologies, responding to our client needs, we will aim to expand our market share.”
