According to the Official Gazette of the Macau Government, Lei Seak Chio, head of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health at the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), has been appointed as Deputy director of the city’s gaming regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).
Lei Seak Chio’s appointment was approved by the Secretary for Economy and Finance and will last for one year, starting from 10 February. According to the Gazette, the appointment was made on the basis of a vacancy in the post and the fact that Lei’s CV indicated that he was capable of taking up the post.
Following the appointment of former DICJ director Adriano Ho to the post of Customs Commissioner on 20 December last year, the post of DICJ director has been left vacant, although it is temporarily being filled by deputy director Lio Chi Chong. As a result, there has been only one standing deputy director of the DICJ, Chui Hou Ian.
Lei has been working at DSAL since 2005 and became a department head in 2016. He served as head of the hazard monitoring department from 2020 to 2023 and as head of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health since 2023.
Lei holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Management from Huaqiao University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the National Academy of Governance.
