Macau welcomed a total 78,968 visitor arrivals on Tuesday – the first official day of the Lunar New Year Golden Week holiday – down 34.9% on the corresponding day in 2024 according to figures from the Public Security Police Force.
The Day 1 figure does not, however, represent a like-for-like comparison given that the first day of Golden Week last year fell on a Friday.
Tuesday’s visitor arrivals included 52,202 from mainland China, down 36.8% year-on-year, and 16,661 from Hong Kong, down 40.1%.
By point of arrival, 22,429 entered Macau via the Border Gate, 21,524 via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and 11,810 via Hengqin Port, while another 8,558 arrived by air.
This year’s Golden Week holiday runs for a total of eight days from Tuesday 28 January until Tuesday 4 February inclusive.
