Macau’s total visitor arrivals in 2024 totaled 34,928,650, a year-on-year increase of 23.8% according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). The number of international visitors totaled 2,423,093, representing a 66% year-on-year increase.
Visitor arrivals were dominated by those from mainland China, which increased by 28.6% year-on-year to 24,491,424, while visitors from Hong Kong reached 7,179,722, down 0.2% year-on-year. Arrivals from Taiwan, grew by 64.1% to 834,411.
Of international arrivals the Philippines accounted for the largest number of arrivals with 493,399, a 57.1% year-on-year increase, followed by Korea, with 492,184 arrivals, up 140% year-on-year. Visitor arrivals from Japan also grew strongly by 68.2% year-on-year to 126,424.
Among the annual arrivals in 2024, there were 18,884,882 same-day visitors and 16,043,768 overnight visitors, representing year-on-year increases of 35% and 12.8% respectively. The average length of stay was 1.2 days, a year-on-year reduction of 0.1 days, while the average length of stay of overnight visitors was 2.3 days.
By mode of arrival, 27,769,490 or 79.5% of the total were by land with 4,094,585 or 11.7% by sea. Arrivals by air totaled 3,064,575 or 8.8%, representing year-on-year growth of 43.9%.
The total number of arrivals in December 2024 was 3,040,337, up 3.3% year-on-year, of which 292,202 were international arrivals, an increase of 22.5%.
