India’s leading casino and online gaming operator Delta Corp has reported gross income from operations of Rs 235.27 crores (US$27.2 million) for the three months to 31 December 2024, flat year-on-year and up 2.9% sequentially due to growth in the company’s online skill gaming and hospitality segments.
According to details filed on Monday, income from gaming operations reached Rs 175.44 crores (US$20.2 million) in the December quarter, down from Rs 177.23 crores (US$20.5 million) in the September quarter and from Rs 181.54 crores (US$21.0 million) a year earlier.
However, income from online skill games increased 9.2% compared to the previous quarter to Rs 45.45 crores (US5.2 million) while hospitality grew by 47.9% to Rs 14.38 crores (US$1.7 million).
Delta Corp’s profit for the period grew to Rs 35.73 crores (US$4.1 million), up from Rs 26.98 crores (US$3.1 million) in the September quarter and from Rs 34.48 crores (US$4.0 million) a year earlier.
The company continues to wait for a court decision on notices sent in 2023 to three of its subsidiaries demanding back payment of Rs 11,439.49 crores (US$1.38 billion) for alleged short payment of GST.
Delta Corp reiterated the fact it and other impacted companies have all elevated Writ Petitions opposing such demands to the Supreme Court, noting that the claims are based on the gross bet value or face value of all games played at its casinos and online platform.
“Without prejudice, the holding company and its three subsidiaries, based on their respective legal assessments, are of the view that all the above notices and the tax demands are arbitrary in nature and contrary to the provisions of law. The companies have challenged such tax demands and initiated necessary legal proceedings,” it said.
