Light & Wonder said overnight it has been selected by global cruise ship operator Norwegian Cruise Lines to install wide area progressive jackpots and tables games across its 18-ship fleet.
The installation will include 200 of the company’s GM Atlas systems featuring jackpot progressives, as well as blackjack and poker derivatives.
“We take pride in delivering exciting gaming experiences that resonate with players, whether on land or at sea,” said Niaz Nejad, Managing Director – Americas, Gaming at Light & Wonder.
“We’re excited to collaborate with Norwegian Cruise Line to launch its first Operator Wide Area Progressive (OWAP) table games network. By connecting our industry-leading GM Atlas progressives across their extensive fleet, we’re bringing the excitement of gaming to NCL’s guests at sea.”
According to Light & Wonder, OWAP technology will enable Norwegian Cruise Lines to link gaming titles across multiple vessels through a centralized network, keeping them under the same umbrella. This solution is designed to enhance excitement at gaming tables and boost participation in progressive jackpots, it said.
“We are thrilled to work with Light & Wonder to introduce OWAP table games to our 18-ship fleet,” said Ian Donald, Vice President, Gaming Operations for Norwegian Cruise Line. “This innovative technology allows us to link gaming experiences across our vessels, offering our guests even more excitement and the opportunity for larger payouts.”
Light & Wonder added that its first progressive system installation as part of its collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Lines occurred on the Norwegian Breakaway in August, with additional installations underway.
