Resorts World Sentosa will open its new Illumination’s Minion Land attraction at Universal Studios on 14 February, the company has announced.

Part of the Singapore resort’s multi-billion makeover that includes the renovation of existing facilities as well as a US$5 billion waterfront expansion, the Minion’s Land attraction will feature new immersive experiences such as themed dining, exclusive merchandise and a show along with various rides.

Among the highlight experiences will be the Super Hungry Food Stand. Inspired by the waterfront snack stand in Illumination’s Despicable Me, the Super Hungry Food Stand is described as a charming boardwalk eatery serving up hearty fare and a themed environment featuring classic carnival game kiosks Down-a-Clown, Lucky Ducky and Balloon Dart that have been taken over by none other than the Minions.

There is also the Minion Marketplace shopping hub with three distinct and immersive retail environments, and the Minute of Minion Mayhem Show where Gru’s girls – Margo, Edith, and Agnes – take over the streets with fart guns, catchy dance moves, and a meet and greet at the end.

New rides will include the Minion dance party-themed carousel Buggie Boogie, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and Silly Swirly.

As previously reported by IAG, the RWS 2.0 expansion will, aside from Illumination’s Minion Land, see the S.E.A. Aquarium triple in size and rebranded as the Singapore Oceanarium and the main outdoor Forum area transformed.

The waterfront expansion will add around 700 hotel keys to the RWS offering and form what operator Genting Singapore describes as a “monumental gateway to RWS and the new Greater Southern Waterfront precinct.”
