Philippine technology firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp said Monday it has no “definitive plans” to acquire leading online casino brand Casino Plus amid local media reports that a takeover could be imminent.
It did, however, admit to being in the market for strategic acquisitions as part of its long-term expansion plans.
DigiPlus made the comments in response to a request for clarification from the Philippine Stock Exchange after local media outlet Bilyonaryo.com reported that the company was set to make a move to acquire Casino Plus in a mega deal it said would “completely change the game for the Philippine online gaming industry.”
Casino Plus is one of the Philippines’ largest online gaming operators thanks to unique offerings such as its popular “Color Game”, as well as providing back-end support for the PIGO operations of many of the country’s land-based operators.
It also runs the casino, called “Casino Plus”, at Hotel Stotsenberg in Clark and is currently in the midst of a substantial redevelopment that will see the entire hotel complex demolished and rebuilt and the existing casino facility relocated to a vastly larger space.
According to Bilyanaro, a combined DigiPlus and Casino Plus entity would bring in monthly revenue of Php10 billion.
Although currently separate, sources have confirmed to Inside Asian Gaming that they two companies share some key stakeholders.
