Galaxy Entertainment Group Vice Chairman Francis Lui has been named the most influential person in the Asian gaming industry for the sixth year in a row after topping Inside Asian Gaming’s Asian Gaming Power 50 list for 2024.
The Asian Gaming Power 50 is IAG’s annual list of the 50 most influential individuals in the industry across the Asia-Pacific region, as ranked by a panel of esteemed judges boasting decades of industry experience.
The 2024 Asian Gaming Power 50 was announced at an elegant Black Tie Gala Dinner held in the Grand Ballroom at Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, Philippines, last night.
Lui’s success represents the sixth consecutive year he has topped the list and the eighth overall, having previously ranked number 1 in 2011 and 2012, and every year since 2019. He joins Las Vegas Sands founder Sheldon Adelson, who ranked number 1 from 2013 to 2018 (and in 2010), in having done so for six straight years.
Moving into second spot in 2024, up from fourth spot last year, is Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Robert Goldstein, who has seen his company firing on all cylinders over the past 12 months thanks to the strong recovery of Sands China in Macau and the incredible pulling power of Singapore IR Marina Bay Sands.
MGM China Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho also moves up two spots to third, having seen her company significantly boost its Macau market share in 2024 as it continues to benefit from more tables under the current 10-year concession and the early adoption of smart gaming tables at MGM properties.
Melco Resorts Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho drops back to fourth. He made significant changes to the Melco leadership team this year with the goal of reclaiming the company’s position in the lucrative premium mass market, and recent results have shown tremendous promise in that regard.
And in fifth spot is Genting Berhad Chairman and CEO Lim Kok Thay, who has seen his core assets in Malaysia and Singapore continuing to surge as visitor arrivals to both countries remains on the rise.
There are nine new faces on this year’s list, among them Universal’s Tomohiro Okada who now sits as the company’s chairman as well as its controlling shareholder, and SJM’s Ben Toh following his promotion to Group COO.
Also included for the first time are Trevor Croker and Jamie Odell – the head honchos of leading industry suppliers Aristocrat and Light & Wonder respectively – while Kevin Benning moves into the 50 on Macau Studio City’s vastly improved performance.
IAG thanks our many sponsors for their generous support, including Venue Sponsor Bloomberry Resorts Corp, and Welcome Cocktails and After Party Sponsor Solaire Resort North. The three Platinum Sponsors are Aristocrat, IGT and Light & Wonder while there are 11 Gold Sponsors: Angel, FBM, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Hann Resorts, Macau Slot, Melco Resorts, MGM China, Okada Manila, Sands China, SJM Resorts and Wynn Macau.
The 18th Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will take place on Friday 7 November 2025 and will be held in Macau.
