Macau welcomed a total of 993,117 visitors during the week-long National Day Golden Week holiday, an increase of 1.9% over 2019, the Macao Government Tourism Office has announced.
The figure included 826,181 visitors from Mainland China, accounting for 83.1% of the total, while there were also 117,009 arrivals from Hong Kong.
This year’s total was 1.9% higher than the 974,337 visitors during the seven-day Golden Week in 2019, and about 7.5% more than the 923,287 visitors during the eight-day Golden Week in 2023.
According to the MGTO’s figures, last Thursday 3 October saw the highest visitation at 174,313 visitor arrivals, setting a new single-day record for an October Golden Week.
Average daily arrivals of 141,873 also beat the MGTO’s earlier estimate of 130,000 and represented an increase of 2.0% over the 2019 average and 22.9% over last year’s.
The Macao Transport Bureau likewise revealed that the total number of bus passengers in Macau during Golden Week was 3,616,000, with a daily average of 723,000, representing an increase of 15% compared with the same period in 2023. The daily average number of bus trips during the holiday period was more than 9,600.
