Macau-based gaming equipment distributor Asia Pioneer Entertainment reported a loss of HK$638,929 (US$81,920) in the first six months of 2024, narrowed from a loss of HK$7.1 million (US$910,000) a year earlier due to a significant increase in revenue from its gaming business segments.
According to details filed overnight, revenue in 1H24 grew by 160% year-on-year to HK$19.9 million (US$2.6 million), including a 190% increase in the Technical Sales and Distribution of EGEs to HK$13.8 million (US$1.8 million).
Revenues from the Consultancy and Technical Services segment increased by 301% year to HK$4.6 million (US$589,790), although Repair Services decreased by 26.8% to around HK$452,000 (US$57,950).
The company also outlined a positive outlook, noting that in the first six months of 2024, casino operators’ yield per slot machine in the Macau market was 26.8% higher than during the same period in 2019, while slot machine GGR reached MOP$6.43 billion (US$799 million), accounting for 5.7% of Macau-wide gaming revenues.
“As of December 2023, the total number of slot machines stands at 12,000 and management expects the trend for this number to grow back to pre-pandemic levels in the next few years,” the company said.
APE represents Slovenia’s Spintec, Taiwan’s Jumbo Technologies and Konami Australia in Macau and said it expects to see benefit from new product releases in the near future.
“In the first half of 2024, Spintec unveiled its new Charisma series of electronic Roulettes with a new design and updated topper,” APE said. “These new products will be available to the Macau SAR market in the second half of 2024 after certification and regulatory approval. Casino customers in Macau SAR have expressed strong interest in this updated product from Spintec.
“Also in the first half of 2024, Jumbo Technologies updated its ‘Long Yi Fa’ progressive jackpot slots. The product is expected to get certification in the second half of 2024 and will be marketed to Macau SAR casino customers in the second half of 2024 and 2025.
“Key products from Konami that the Group distributes include Dimension series 75c and 49 cabinets, which are able to run different Konami slot game titles. These products have been proven popular in casinos in Australia and the rest of Asia. The Group plans to promote these Konami products with Macau SAR casinos customers in the second half of 2024 and 2025.”
