Philippine technology firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp, formerly Leisure & Resorts World Corp, has revealed it is exploring opportunities to enter the iGaming market in Brazil following the recent legalization of gaming and betting activities in the country.
According to information filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, DigiPlus has filed through its wholly-owned subsidiary DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda an application for Licença Para Loterias De Apostas De Quota Fixa – a federal license that allows the operations of land-based and online sports betting, electronic games, live game studios and other fixed-odds betting activities in Brazil.
The result of the license application is expected to be released on or before the end of November 2024, the company explained.
“Currently in its preliminary stages, DigiPlus is looking to diversify its portfolio into new markets with enabling regulatory environment for iGaming. DigiPlus envisions the Philippines to remain its core market,” it said.
“DigiPlus recognizes Brazil’s strong potential as one of the fastest-growing gaming markets in Latin America. The country has a population of over 200 million, with internet penetration at 87%.”
Among its core operations in the Philippines, DigiPlus provides backend support for online and land-based operators and also leases slot machines and operates slot arcades on behalf of gaming regulator PAGCOR.
