According to Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), visitor arrivals in July totaled 3,021,189, a year-on-year increase of 9.5% and an increase of 18.4% compared with June, recovering to 85.6% of the same period in 2019.
Mainland China continued to account for the majority of arrivals in July with 2,183,397 arrival – up 14.3% year-on-year- while there were 589,026 arrivals from Hong Kong, down 10.9% decrease year-on-year, and 75,783 arrivals from Taiwan, up 29.5%.
Visitor arrivals from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in July recovered to 85.0%, 92.8% and 78.4% of July 2019, respectively.
International arrivals in July totaled 172,983, up 33.3% year-on-year and back to 75.5% of 2019 levels. The Philippines led the way for international arrivals at 42,963, up 38.2% year-on-year, while South Korea accounted for 32,825 arrivals, up 66.3%.
In terms of length of stay, same-day visitors totaled 1,596,662 for the month, an increase of 20.2% year-on-year, while overnight visitors fell by 0.5% to 1,424,527 arrivals. The average length of stay was 1.2 days, a decrease of 0.1 days compared with the same month last year.
Visitor arrivals for the first seven months of 2024 combined reached 19,741,172, up 37.0% year-on-year and back to 82.9% of the same period in 2019. International arrivals recovered to 68.1% at 1,341,605.
