Former Grand Lisboa Palace President Paul Baker will soon be named as the new President of Dubai’s Atlantis Resorts, according to travel industry news outlet Skift.
Citing an internal memo allegedly written by the CEO of Atlantis operator Kerzner International, Philippe Zuber, the outlet says Baker will start his new role on 26 August and initially work across Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal. Long-time Kerzner VP Martin Chung will temporarily look after Atlantis Sanya in China until Baker has been “fully orientated into the brand.”
Ironically, Baker’s predecessor Tim Kelly began his new role as Property President of Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s City of Dreams Macau – located just a stone’s throw from Grand Lisboa Palace – this week. Baker left his role with SJM Resorts in late 2022 after four years in the role.
Skift, which notes that Baker arrives in Dubai just as the UAE is in the process of enacting casino legislation, quotes Zuber as stating in his memo, “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Baker as President, Atlantis. In his new role, Paul will be reporting to myself.
“Paul brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to our organization. Throughout Paul’s career, working in key markets including Las Vegas, America, Malaysia, and Macau, China, Paul has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership and a deep understanding of the integrated resort industry.”
