Macau welcomed a total of 2,551,318 visitor arrivals in June, up 15.5% year-on-year, but down by 5% from May, according to latest information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Average visitors of 85,000 per day represented 82.4% of the 2019 figure.
Among the visitor arrivals in June there were 1,652,490 from mainland China, up 14.4% year-on-year, as well as 626,835 visitors from Hong Kong, up 4.2%, and 80,548 from Taiwan, up 87.5%.
In terms of international arrivals, the Philippines accounted for the largest number of visitors, with 48,008 visitors arriving in Macau in June, up 90.2% year-on-year, followed by 30,848 visitors from Korea, up 113.4% year-on-year.
June saw 1,316,114 same-day visitors and 1,235,204 overnight visitors, with the average length of stay of visitors at 1.2 days, a decrease of 0.1 days compared to the same month last year.
The DSEC also confirmed that visitor arrivals for the first half of 2024 totaled 16,719,983, up 43.6% year-on-year and recovering to 82.4% of the same period in 2019.
Among them, 11,537,999 were visitors from mainland China, an increase of 52.9%, while 3,608,467 were from Hong Kong and 404,895 from Taiwan.
In the first half of the year, there were a total of 1,168,622 international arrivals, with the Philippines leading the way with 234,336 arrivals, an increase of 110% year-on-year, followed by South Korea with 231,859 arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 400%.
In Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand recorded a significant increase in visitor arrivals to Macau, with 91,953, 85,122 and 74,420 respectively.
