The Macau Tourism Price Index (TPI) for the second quarter was 140.96, down 2.57% quarter-on-quarter due to lower hotel room rates, according to the Statistics and Census Service.
The Accommodation Price Index was itself down 21.08% compared to the first quarter in Q2 as a result of the lower hotel room rates, while the TPI for Entertainment and Cultural Activities was 171.45, an increase of 0.84% quarter-on-quarter.
The Clothing and Footwear Index and the Restaurant Services Index showed significant increases, with the Clothing and Footwear Index up by 7.42% to 115.18 and the Restaurant Services Index by 6.79% to 186.53 in the second quarter.
The overall TPI for the second quarter was 140.96, up 2.72% year-on-year but down 2.57% quarter-on-quarter.
In the first half of the year, the TPI rose by 3.70% year-on-year, while the price indices for clothing and footwear, and for miscellaneous items, rose by 8.26% and 6.83% respectively, with only entertainment and cultural activities registering a drop of 15.10%.
