The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will hold its latest international roadshow in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, looking to promote Macau to what it describes as a Southeast Asian tourism market offering “great potential”.
According to provisional data of visitor arrivals in the first five months of this year, Thailand ranked eighth among Macau’s top 10 source markets.
The MGTO held its first large-scale tourism promotion for an international source market in Asia post-pandemic in Bangkok in June 2023, and will return this week over three consecutive days for the “Experience Macau” Bangkok at the Central World shopping mall from 14 to 16 June.
The theme of this year’s roadshow is “Experience Macau, Ma Ma Macau”. “Ma Ma” is a Thai phrase meaning a sincere invitation to participate, with the MGTO looking to attract Thai residents to experience Macau together in the local language.
All six Macau concessionaires will be involved by setting up booths at the Roadshow to promote their tourism facilities, while Air Macau together with online and offline travel agencies in Thailand will offer a special sale on Macau tourism products to attract Thai consumers and boost visitation to Macau.
Three airlines – MACA, Thai AirAsia and Lion Air – currently provide direct flights to Macau, with a total of 45 flights to and from Bangkok and Macau every week.
