The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has continued its overseas promotional program with the launch of its latest roadshow in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, on Thursday.
The agency has already completed two roadshows this year, in Tokyo in March and Singapore in April, with this Jakarta event representing the third roadshow so far.
The Jakarta roadshow is being held at the Central Park Shopping Mall and is designed with aqua blue as the theme color, showcasing Macau’s diversified tourism elements and bright and lively features. Air Macau and all six concessionaires have also set up booths to promote their tourism facilities and new elements.
The MGTO and concessionaires had earlier in the week hosted a tourism promotion seminar and business meeting alongside representatives of the Macau and Indonesian travel industries, attended by about 100 people.
Macau welcomed 39,294 visitors from Indonesia in Q1, equivalent to 88.2% of 2019 levels. Compared to the same period in 2023, average daily arrivals increased by 154.5%. Indonesia currently ranks fourth among Macau’s international source markets and seventh in total source markets.
Direct flights between Jakarta and Macau commenced in November 2023, with three direct flights to Macau currently in place.
“The MGTO is committed to expanding the visitor source markets in Indonesia and Southeast Asia and has stepped up its efforts to promote Macau through various means,” the agency said.
“The MGTO has been actively organizing Indonesian delegations to visit Macau to inspect new attractions and hotel facilities … in order to attract more Indonesian and Southeast Asian tourists to Macau, and to promote the development of Macau’s international visitor source markets.”
