Macau welcomed a total of 425,428 visitor arrivals during last week’s four-day Ching Ming Festival holiday period, including 136,363 arrivals on the actual day of the festival on 4 April.
According to figures from the Public Security Police Force, there were an average of 106,357 visitors per day during the period from 4 to 7 April, although the official holiday period recognized by mainland China only ran for three days until 6 April.
The figure compared favorably to the 481,000 people who entered Macau during the six-day Ching Ming Festival and Easter holiday period that ran from 5 to 10 April last year at an average of nearly 80,000 visitors per day.
The two holidays were separated by three days this year, with the four-day Easter holiday period from 29 March to 1 April having attracted 406,329 visitor arrivals at 101,582 per day.
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recently released visitor numbers for the month of February, which saw 3,293,564 total arrivals, up 110% year-on-year and 15.1% higher than January.
