Global betting company 1xBet has announced rising Filipino basketball player Kai Sotto as its new brand ambassador, representing the 1xBet brand in the Philippines, Japan, China, Indonesia, Thailand and other Asian countries.
According to 1xBet, the agreement will help the company increase brand awareness in the region, while Sotto will have the opportunity to “expand the popularity of basketball in Asia and help thousands of young athletes take their first steps towards their dreams.”
Born in Las Pinas, Philippines in 2002, Sotto now stands 221cm tall and is said to idolize NBA legend Tim Duncan, current Boston Celtics power forward Kristaps Porzingis and Filipino basketballer June Mar Fajardo.
He played in the NBA G-League in 2019 before spending two years with the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s NBL competition – a renowned NBA breeding ground – and later moving to Japan where he is currently representing the Yokohama B-Corsairs of the Japanese B.League.
Last year he played for the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League and represented the Philippines in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
“I have been watching the progress of 1xBet for many years and know how much attention the company pays to supporting youth and regional sports,” Sotto said.
“That is why I gladly accepted the offer of cooperation, and now, as an ambassador, I will be able to extend my platform to help Philippine basketball at home and abroad.”
A 1xBet representative said, “We are pleased to become a partner of one of the most promising players in Asia at the very beginning of his great path. Already today, he is an example for thousands of boys who dream of a basketball career, and this is extremely important for the 1xBet company, which is looking for talents worldwide.”
1xBet said the ambassador agreement with Sotto is part of the brand’s global strategy to support sports in Southeast Asia and will help increase brand awareness in the region.
