Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of Hong Kong-listed Success Universe Group Ltd, Hoffman Ma Ho Man, has revealed to Hong Kong media that the company has submitted the Phase 3 development plan for its Inner Harbor property Ponte 16, with an estimated cost of between HK$500 million (US$64 million) and HK$600 million (US$77 million).
According to local media outlet Ming Pao, Ma discussed the development during the recent Chinese New Year holiday with the Ponte 16 project to include a HK$100 million (US$13 million) renovation of Sofitel hotel.
The project will primarily focus on non-gaming attractions, with Ma stating, “We have no plans to set up a special gaming area for overseas customers in the casino section. As for the non-gaming part, the company will fully utilize the existing piazza and the future development of the mall space for a night market project, similar to the one in Singapore’s Clarke Quay.”
In an interview with Inside Asian Gaming conducted last year, Ma said the Phase 3 expansion of Ponte 16 would include a shopping arcade, “which is a bit more like a contained area where the new design would create a waterfront entertainment-oriented complex.
“The customers could enjoy the waterfront and the outdoors a bit more and we would kind of lift the image of this waterfront environment with the new design,” he said.
