Japanese gaming and entertainment giant Konami has reported profit attributable to the owners of JPY44.5 billion (US$304 million) for the nine months to 31 December 2023, up 61.4% year-on-year and buoyed by strong growth across all of its operating segments.
According to details posted on the company’s website, revenue for the nine-month period grew by 11.6% year-on-year to JPY253.1 billion (US$1.73 billion), including 6.3% growth in Gaming & Systems to JPY29.6 billion (US$202 million). Digital entertainment continued to drive the majority of Konami’s revenues, rising by 10.8% to JPY173.4 billion (US$1.18 billion), while the Amusement segment grew by 54.6% to JPY16.3 billion (US$111 million).
On the improvement in Gaming & Systems, Konami said this was due to steady growth in the North American and Australian markets – driven by the constant introduction of new products and services by casino machine suppliers.
“Amidst these circumstances, in our slot machine business, the DIMENSION series is expanding its presence in the North American and Australian markets, where the series have won multiple awards,” it said.
“In terms of slot machine sales, we primarily sold DIMENSION 27 and DIMENSION 49. In the area of [the revenue share business], we are expanding the introduction of DIMENSION 75C featuring a 75-inch curved monitor. We also released DIMENSION 43×3, with the combination of three 43-inch monitors, which was well received by the market.”
Konami added that its casino management SYNKROS went into operation at Fontainebleau Las Vegas in Las Vegas as the number of casino operators installing the system continues to grow.
Looking ahead, Konami said it plans to further expand its line-up of titles on the DIMENSION series of slot machines, with high-performing titles such as All Aboard and Stuffed Coins to be exhibited at ICE London next week.
“Furthermore, we will release Lucky Honeycomb Fortune Pots and Bags from Lucky Honeycomb series which follows the feature of popular title from Dragon’s Law series,” the company said.
For the casino management system SYNKROS, following the Fontainebleau Las Vegas opening in December 2023, the system will be implemented at another large-scale IR facility the Ocean Casino Resort, located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In addition, we will introduce various new features to SYNKROS, including Progressive Management, the system-delivered solution for jackpot progressives.
“We aim to expand our market share by proceeding with the development of various functions that utilize cutting-edge technologies to meet the needs of our customers.”
