The Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association (MGEMA) in partnership with Inside Asian Gaming have announced Ian Hughes, Chief Commercial Officer for Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) and CEO of GLI Australia Pty Ltd, as a speaker at the upcoming MGS Summit on Tuesday 14 November 2023.
Hughes will deliver a presentation titled, “AI Unleashed: Navigating the future for Regulated Gaming” in which he will delve into the relationship between AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the global gaming industry in areas such as Customer Experience, Responsible Gaming, Regulatory Compliance and AML. The session will provide a unique opportunity to learn about AI’s role in identifying patterns in behaviors while offering valuable insight to operators and suppliers.
It will discuss Data Science, Deep Learning and Neural Networks along with importance of quality data for Training and Modeling, as well as what organizations will need to do to leverage the advances in AI. It will also examine the ethical considerations and public perceptions that could damage industry brands and consumer trust.
An industry veteran of more than 30 years, Ian oversees the commercial success of GLI’s global gaming group, ensuring clients grow their potential and increase their efficiencies in the testing and certification process.
He is responsible for the successful establishment and operation of a Pachinko and Pachislot testing laboratory in Japan designated by the National Public Safety Commission.
Ian has a passion for the use of Technology in assisting Regulators, Operators and Suppliers develop and deploy solutions that provide benefits to the Gaming Industry and protection of all participants. He is responsible for overseeing professional services provided by GLI laboratories and providing technical advice and certification services to regulators globally. He has been actively engaged in the compliance of gaming equipment globally for the past 30 years and resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ian remains at forefront of gaming regulatory issues such as AML, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and is currently undertaking post graduate studies at MIT in the field of AI.
He takes an active role and represents GLI interests on various committees and industry forums regarding gaming policy and standards. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering and a master’s degree in Business Administration, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ian is also passionate about aviation and holds both a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) & CASA private pilot’s license and is instrument rated.
