The 11th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) opened Friday with 512 exhibitors, including Macau’s six gaming concessionaires plus representatives from 39 countries and regions, participating travel agencies, and industry organizations and enterprises.
MITE, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), is an annual large-scale exhibition of Macau tourism. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the past three years has mainly comprised of local exhibitors from Macau and the mainland, but this year, after the opening of Macau in January, MITE has welcomed back many foreign exhibitors.
Of the 512 exhibitors in 2023, there are 253 from Mainland China, 165 from Macau, 18 from Taiwan and seven from Hong Kong, plus 69 from foreign countries.
At the opening ceremony on Friday, Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng was joined by senior executives of the six concessionaires including Sands China President Dr Wilfred Wong; Galaxy Entertainment Group director Philip Cheng Yee Sing; MGM China President, Chief Strategy and Financial Officer Kenneth Feng; Melco Resorts Chief Advisor Kent Wong; SJM Holdings Chairman and Executive Director Daisy Ho, and Wynn Macau Ltd Vice Chairman and Executive Director Linda Chen.
In his speech, the Secretary of Economy and Finance, Lei Wai Nong, reiterated the government’s intention to develop diversified sources of visitors.
“This year’s MITE is an innovative way to promote cooperation between Macau and the local and international tourism industries, and to stimulate new vitality in the tourism economy,” he said.
The 11th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo runs for three days at Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao.
