Century Entertainment International Holdings Limited, the company formerly known as Macau junket investor Amax International, said Tuesday that it is not planning to target mainland Chinese customers via its table game operations at a casino in southern Cambodia.
The update comes after Century Entertainment last month signed a new five-year deal to operate eight gaming tables at the casino, which is owned by the company’s own Chairman and CEO, Ng Man Sun, and located in the China-backed investment zone of Dara Sakor.
Ng’s casino was previously located in Sihanoukville but relocated to Dara Sakor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a corporate update, Century Entertainment said it has now removed a risk clause from its recent gaming tables announcement in which it outlined “potential uncertainties” as a result of “social and economic conditions, travelling restrictions and currency exchange control in the PRC (People’s Republic of China.”
This, it said, is because “PRC customers are not the major patrons” and because Ministry of Tourism figures show there were 2.2 million visitors to Cambodia in 2022, “106,875 out of which were from the PRC, representing approximately 4.7% only.”
Century Entertainment previously revealed that its eight gaming tables would be mass market tables mainly offering baccarat.
