Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has announced the impending departure of long-time Chief Financial Officer Robert Drake, to be replaced by Ted Chan.
According to details announced by the company late Monday, the transition will take place from 1 March 2023, with Chan to work with Drake over a period of months to ensure a smooth transition.
The role sees Chan officially resume operations in Macau, having previously overseen GEG’s initiatives in Japan.
“Mr Chan has 20 years of operational and financial experience within both Macau and regional gaming,” said GEG’s Vice Chairman, Francis Lui.
“Ted joined GEG in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer – Japan Development. He brings extensive gaming, hospitality and business development experience, gained through holding numerous senior management positions. The unique combination of Ted’s wealth of local integrated resort knowledge combined with his over two decades of management experience and familiarity with GEG makes him ideally suited for the role. Additionally, he will be supported by our existing highly capable Finance and Investor Relation teams to lead the company into the next era of our growth.”
Chan was previously Property President of Melco Crown’s Altira Macau between 2008 and 2010 and was Melco Crown Group COO between 2010 and 2016 before stepping down.
Lui added, “I would like to acknowledge and thank Mr Drake for his significant contribution to the Group over the past 15 years [as he] has decided to pursue his personal interests.
“During his tenure Bob contributed to a number of significant milestones including: navigating the company through the global financial crises and the COVID-19 pandemic, inclusion of GEG as a constituent of the Hang Seng Index, opening Galaxy Macau Phases 1 & 2 and Broadway Macau, and, most recently, the successful issuance of GEG’s new Macau gaming concession and preparation of the forthcoming opening of our Cotai Phase 3 development.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation for his significant efforts and contributions to the Group over his many long years of service.”
Drake will continue in a newly appointed position with GEG of Senior Advisor to the Group.
