President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr has sworn into office the new Board of Directors of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
PAGCOR’s new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer is Alejandro H. Tengco, with Atty. Juanito L. Sañosa, Jr as President and Chief Operating Officer.
The other members of the Board of Directors are Gilbert Cesar C. Remulla, Engr. Francis Democrito C. Concordia and Jose Maria C. Ortega.
Tengco replaces outgoing Chair and CEO Andrea Domingo in the top job, with his predecessor having been appointed to the role by former President Rodrigo Duterte in May 2016 and overseeing a successful period of growth for the Philippines gaming market, COVID challenges notwithstanding.
According to local media reports, Tengco – who owns building contractor Nationstar Development Corp – is a former vice mayor of Malolos, Bulacan and a long-time friend of the new President Marcos.
He also worked as a special assistant to businessman Tony Cojuangco, who recently led a physical takeover of integrated resort Okada Manila on behalf of Kazuo Okada and has since been named property president by the Kazuo Okada group. It is unclear what Tengco’s appointment to PAGCOR means for ongoing legal efforts by the ousted board of Okada Manila to regain control.
