The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 18 June has reached 1,615, with 32 new positive cases detected in the 24 hours to midnight at the end of Tuesday 12 July.
Of the 32 new cases, 11 were found in the community with five of them close contacts, four positive cases in mass testing and key groups and two cases in other groups. The other 21 were found amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.
As of 8am Wednesday 13 July, a total of 19,956 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 3,110 close contacts, 11,080 “non-core” close contacts, 935 “sub-close” contacts, 254 general contacts and 766 accompanying persons.
According to the Unitary Police Service (SPU), 810 people were warned by the police on 12 July and nine people were prosecuted by law enforcement for not wearing their masks.
A total of three people have died since the outbreak began. All three deaths were elderly people who suffered from chronic diseases such as hypertension and heart disease. A total of 151 confirmed cases have been discharged from hospital and 326 people with no symptoms have been released from isolation.
