The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 18 June has reached 1,303, with 88 new positive cases detected in the past 24 hours.
Of the 88 new cases, 57 were found in the community with 13 of them close contacts, 33 positive cases in mass testing and key groups and 11 cases in other groups. The other 31 were found amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.
As of 8am Friday 8 July, a total of 17,378 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 2,722 close contacts, 10,096 “non-core” close contacts, 811 “sub-close” contacts, 255 general contacts and 734 accompanying persons.
Up to now, 299 confirmed patients have been discharged from isolation and 88 patients have been discharged from hospital.
The Grand Lisboa Hotel was designated as a red code area on 5 July and about 500 people are now isolated in the hotel and will be sharing a room of two to three people. This includes approximately 400 staff and 100 guests.
SJM announced late Thursday that around 470 rooms at Grand Lisboa Palace Macau in Cotai will be designated as quarantine facilities, while Grand Hyatt Macau at Melco Resorts’ City of Dreams will also become a quarantine hotel from today.
