The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 18 June has reached 1,087, with 146 new positive cases detected in the past 24 hours. This represents a significant increase on the 89 cases reported on Tuesday and 68 on Monday as the outbreak continues to gather pace.
Of the 146 new cases, 107 were found in the community with 59 of them from key groups such as those living in yellow code areas or working in areas like cleaning, security and property management, all known COVID-cluster occupations. The other 39 were found amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.
As of 8am Wednesday 6 July, a total of 14,188 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 2,370 close contacts, 8,916 “non-core” close contacts, 767 “sub-close” contacts, 332 general contacts and 716 accompanying persons.
As reported by Inside Asian Gaming, SJM’s Grand Lisboa on the Macau Peninsula and Sands China’s Shoppes at Four Seasons are among the venues closed in recent days due to a number of cases being detected on premises.
