Three of the world’s largest gaming suppliers have announced new deals aimed at boosting their presence in the growing cashless gaming space.

According to a series of announcements made public during the first two days of G2E, which returned to Las Vegas this week after being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, the deals represent increased expectations among consumers to be provided with cashless payment options given concerns around health and safety.

On Tuesday, Scientific Games Corporation revealed it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire PlayOn, a cashless table game solution developed by Nevada’s Automated Cashless Systems, Inc.

The PlayOn cashless product line, which provides players with a seamless debit solution at live table games, will be called AToM or Access To On Demand Money as part of the Scientific Games portfolio.

According to Scientific Games, the AToM solution – currently live on 600 table games in California, Nevada and New Mexico – lets players access funds at live table games without having to leave their seats by swiping their debit card and entering their PIN.

“This addition will allow us to provide operators and their players with a seamless, safe, and secure way to instantly access money right at the gaming position,” said SG’s Senior Vice President of Global Systems and Tables, Rob Bone. “We look forward to being able to offer this invaluable product to our customers across the globe.”

IGT also announced this week a new partnership with Sightline Payments to deliver cashless gaming via Sightline’s digital-commerce platform Play+ and IGT’s IGTPay Resort Wallet and PlaySports sports betting platform.

Play+ has been added as a method of funding IGT’s cashless systems, allowing players to fund their Resort Wallet accounts via Play+ and use those funds for gaming and entertainment at casino properties.

“The demand for cashless gaming solutions is at an all-time high and increasing rapidly, so this partnership will help operators give their patrons the convenience they’re looking for in a safe, secure, and seamless manner,” said Ryan Reddy, IGT Senior Vice President VLT, Systems and Payments.

Sightline had revealed only 24 hours earlier a similar partnership with Konami Gaming that will see cashless gaming provided at Resorts World Las Vegas via Sightline’s Play+ and Konami’s SYNKROS casino management system.

Sightline Co-CEO Joe Pappano said the global gaming industry “must modernize its payments infrastructure to keep up with consumer preferences.

“The ecosystem that we are bringing to life at Resorts World Las Vegas with Konami and our other partners there is showcasing a level of collaboration the industry has not seen before and will serve as a hallmark for other operators adopting cashless technology,” he said.
