Singapore integrated resort Marina Bay Sands has conducted mass COVID-19 testing of almost 7,500 staff in response to a recent outbreak across the sovereign state that saw two casino dealers recently test positive.
In a statement posted on the property’s website, MBS said it has embarked on a mass testing exercise for staff and contractors working on site.
A total of 7,450 staff and another 800 contractors all took an antigen rapid test (ART) for COVID-19 between 21 and 26 May 2021 with all returning negative results. MBS confirmed the tests were in addition to its enhanced polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing regime for all staff working on property which sees routine testing take place every 14 or 28 days based on job profiles and risk exposure.
“Marina Bay Sands continues to operate our venues and attractions with the highest of care, raising the bar in our safety and hygiene safeguards to instill a greater sense of comfort and reassurance among our guests, team members and the wider community,” MBS said.
The integrated resort reopened casino operations on 19 May after closing for two days for an extensive deep-cleaning in response to the two dealers testing positive
MBS is now operating at limited capacity until at least 13 June 2021, including a limit of two people per gaming table.
Singapore recorded 19 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with the seven-day average currently sitting at 29 following the recent outbreak.
